• The Pro-ARIDES zone of Mali is rich in potential for non-timber forest products (NTFPs).
• NTFPs provide the macro- and micronutrients necessary for the nutrition and growth of children and women of childbearing age.
• NTFPs form the basis of a wide range of economic activities that provide substantial income for women.
• There are opportunities for value addition throughout the NTFP value chain to improve women’s income levels.
• NTFPs are vulnerable to the cumulative effects of climate variability and anthropogenic pressure.
