Securing and developing the Kollingo grazing area in Niger

 | Pro-ARIDES

Located in the Bangui rural commune in the Madaoua department, Tahoua region, the Kollingo grazing area, with a total superficie of 1,289, 87 hectares, has been rehabilitated by Pro-ARIDES, notably on 100 ha with the construction of half-moons and plantations on 50 ha to safeguard these resources. This area serves as a staging post for the many transhumant pastoralists in transit to Nigeria, the pastoral zone of northern Niger; provides a livelihood for the 307 pastoral households who live there; and also serves as a grazing reserve pending the release of fields for the surrounding communities.
