As a reminder, in June 2022, Pro-ARIDES Niger carried out a diagnostic of the dan rani grazing area in the commune of Karakara. According to the information gathered during the survey, the grazing area covers 85 hectares and is home to herders from a variety of backgrounds (Benin, Nigeria, Mali). However, the area is threatened by the invasion of sida cordifolia (90% of the surface area), which considerably affects the quality of the pasture as it is little or not eaten by animals in its green state, and slows down or even destroys the development of the species it does eat.
